2017 5K Race Day Approaching

Thank You to Our Fourth Annual Knights Challenge Sponsors

On October 7th we will hold our fourth annual Knights Challenge 5K Race and 1M Walk to benefit the Hanover Township Food Pantry. We have several participants signed up already, and expect there will be many more signing up that morning.  We’ve added some special pricing for families and students this year as well as a Kids Fun Dash.

Do You or Someone You Know Like to Race?

Register Today:   Racers and Walkers from under 15 to over 70 have participated in past events.   First, second, and third place finishers in each age bracket (male & female) will be awarded with a medallion.   Overall winners for male and females will receive a trophy.    Prizes will be awarded following the Kids Fun Dash.

Fun for the Family:

Sponsors will have information tables setup and refreshments will be served before, during, and after the race.

Why not get your entire family to participate this year?  We have special pricing for families of 3 or more registering together.   Students also have special pricing this year as well.

How It All Began

Jim Kaltinger, Past Race Director, had approached Mary’s Millennium Council in 2013 with his idea about conducting a 5K race. As an avid runner, he knew something about what was involved, but that challenge didn’t stop him from suggesting we sponsor an event. The council approved the idea overwhelmingly and we embarked on a journey which culminated in October 2014 with a successful event. Father Ted, our Pastor, had been a huge supporter of the Knights and our vision to sponsor this race. When he passed away suddenly late 2014, Jim thought it would be good to honor his memory by renaming the race.  There is a special education fund in Father Ted’s honor now, so we’ve reverted to our original name.

The Knights of Columbus, Mary’s Millennium Council in particular, is a great place for a man to share his dreams and together with fellow Knights, Ladies, members of the parish and community, accomplish great things for others in the community.
