2016 5K Race Results

Congratulations to all Winners & Thank You to All

On August 27th we held our third annual Knights Challenge 5K Race and 1M Walk to benefit the Hanover Township Food Pantry. We had several participants sign up that morning, despite the cool temperatures and light drizzle. Thank you to all that helped make this event a success. We had set a goal of 100 participants when we began planning this event. Since the weather didn’t cooperate, it was gratifying to see so many people turn out to help us support this worthwhile cause.
Third Annual Knights Challenge
5K Race / 1M Walk
With the race underway, Jim Kaltinger, Race Director, was not on the sidelines as he was the first year. He actually got his wish, that the event would be organized such that he’d be able to participate again as a runner.
Jim had approached Mary’s Millennium Council in 2013 with his idea about conducting a 5K race. As an avid runner, he knew something about what was involved, but that challenge didn’t stop him from suggesting we sponsor an event. The council approved the idea overwhelmingly and we embarked on a journey which culminated in October 2014 with a successful event. Father Ted, our Pastor, had been a huge supporter of the Knights and our vision to sponsor this race. When he passed away suddenly late 2014, Jim thought it would be good to honor his memory by renaming the race.
The Knights of Columbus, Mary’s Millennium Council in particular, is a great place for a man to share his dreams and together with fellow Knights, Ladies, members of the parish and community, accomplish great things for others in the community.
And The Winners Are …
Participants (runners / walkers) were broken down into age brackets. Top three male and females in each bracket were awarded medals. Overall male and female contestants received special awards. All participants received a technical style T-shirt. (Click image to enlarge)
